Proofreading & copy-editing. Post-editing. Language training.

A native English speaker from Oxford, UK, I have been living and working in Germany since 2011.

Following 12 years’ experience in both the UK and Germany working in advertising and marketing for a range of consumer healthcare/ pharmaceutical clients, I qualified as a translator in 2020.

I hold the Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists, the international gold standard qualification in translation, and translate exclusively from German into my mother tongue, English.

I offer proofreading, copy-editing and post-editing covering a wide range of topics, as well as language training.

Proofreading & copy-editing.

I make revisions to English texts carefully, applying common sense and consistency throughout the entire document.

Services include raising the level of language, checking for spelling and grammatical errors, and application of a style guide - depending on the agreed brief.

Post-editing.

In Germany it is now commonplace for clients to use machine translation to create a text in English - albeit one that needs to be carefully checked and often edited by a native English speaker.

I welcome changes to the language industry that improve efficiency, and am happy to support clients in assuring the quality of their finalised material.

Language training.

I offer language support for all the elements of your job application that are required in English, from your written application to preparing for an online or in-person interview in English.

Your job application in English

Applying for a new job is exciting - but it can also be intimidating, especially if you are required to submit your application in English.

But why go it alone? Why not ask for some support in preparing your application, so that upon submission you can be confident that language issues won’t put you at a disadvantage, but rather show you at your best.

With 12 years’ experience working for international advertising and marketing agencies in Oxford, London, Hamburg and Düsseldorf, I cooperated with HR teams for the entire recruitment process. Filtering through a wide range of cvs and conducting countless interviews, I understand what makes some applications unappealing while others shine.

How can I help you with your job application?

Your written English application

I can support you with your written English application by:

  • Translating it from German into my mother tongue, English.

  • For applications already in English, I can smooth out any spelling or grammatical mistakes, as well as editing it so that the text flows and presents the information in its best light.

  • The above applies both to your cv and to any covering letter/emails/references required.

Language coaching for an interview in English

Preparing for an interview in English can be nerve-racking, especially if you don’t speak English on a regular basis. I can help you by:

  • Talking through a list of likely interview questions and helping you to formulate answers tailored to your application.

  • Practising small talk - starting and ending an interview, whether online or in person.

  • Considering language for trouble-shooting - how to react if you are having technical difficulties during an online interview.

  • Ultimately allowing you to go into the interview feeling confident and ready to communicate in English.

Letter to Wassily Kandinsky

Berlin, 23/12/1912

Dear Mr. Kandinsky,

I spoke to Mr. Koehler again yesterday regarding the BI.R. invoice - and I cannot hide my delight that there is at least one person, with whom I have financial and business dealings, who in this unique way is different from all others. He finds it very regrettable that you travelled so quickly through Berlin without getting in touch, he would have been so delighted to have seen you…
